Basic Definitions
Like many subcultures, LARPing has a lingo all it’s own. While we can’t provide a full LARPer to English dictionary, we can cover a few of the most common terms you’ll encounter when you start playing with us!
PC
Short for “Player Character”. A participant who plays a single character during an event. A protagonist.
NPC
Short for “Non Player Character”. A participant who typically plays multiple characters or antagonists during an event.
Crunchy
An un-named, relatively weak antagonist in combat.
Hook
Noun: An NPC who recruits PCs and guides them to the mod location.
Verb: The act of recruiting PCs for a mod.
Mod / Module
A single adventure or event within the course of the larger weekend. May involve NPCs coming to the Tavern, or PCs visiting another location.
Tavern
The building PCs use as a base during the event. Used for in game socialization and organization.
Monster Camp
The building staff and NPCs use as a base during the event. Used for out of game organization.
PEL
Short for “Post Event Letter.” A tool that helps staff understand what you enjoyed during the event based on your answers to provided questions.
Header
The profession or title under which a set of skills is grouped. Typically must be “unlocked” by a PC in order to use said skills in game.
Boffer
Noun: A foam weapon.
Adjective: A LARP that uses some form of foam weapon combat.
Aura / Packet
A small beanbag-like item made of cloth and millet seed, thrown to represent spells or projectiles.
Garb
Costuming, especially clothing. May be used as an umbrella term to include armor or decorative items such as jewelry.

Accelerant Weapon Construction Guide
A comprehensive overview of various melee and thrown Accelerant-legal boffer weapons and shields. Not every LARPer has the time to spend thrifting or constructing their own garb and weapons. This document will list vendors that meet our safety guidelines (for weapons) and provide good value (for garb and props).
Basic Rules
MirrorSight is a complex setting, with lots of rules to cover many possible character types. However, most of those rules don’t apply to most characters. These three documents cover the rules that apply to everyone.

Character Building Tools
